Killer whales
In 1992, Canada issued a special series of quarters to commemorate 125 years of confederation. At the time, there were 12 provinces and territories, so one quarter was issued each month to represent each of them. This was the first program of its kind in Canada.
The December quarter features a pod of killer whales swimming merrily in British Columbia.
