This coin is from 'The Russian Federation' series, a series of coins that started in 2005 with each celebrating a region of Russia.
This issue is for the Republic of Bashkortostan, an area that includes part of the southern Urals, and its plains. The horse and rider on the coin (and coat of arms) is a depiction of a huge -- almost 10 m high -- bronze monument to Salawat Yulayev, located in the city of Ufa.
