This issue is for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, featuring a Snow Leopard on its coat of arms.
An iconic inhabitant of the Caucasus mountains, the Snow Leopard is now seriously endangered. The leopard has been a symbol of bravery and courage dating back to the nomadic Alans who settled the area in the 7th century.
