Giant Kingfisher
The "generic" kingfisher on the old 5 meticais is replaced by the Giant Kingfisher on the new 50 centavo piece. Africa's largest kingfisher is characterized by its slightly disheveled "hairdo".
In 2006 Mozambique's second monetary reform saw one new Metical replacing 1,000 old Meticais.
