This special quarter was issued to celebrate Saskatchewan's 100th anniversary of joining Canadian confederation. Canadians were asked to vote on coin designs, and the Zoo Keeper certainly voted for this one.
The Western Meadowlark and its flute-like warbled song is well-known to prairie residents.
