The running horse has appeared on Venezuelan coins from the 1870s, always running to the right and except for a few early coins it has always been looking back over its shoulder.
Then, in 2007, the running horse finally turned around and started running in the direction it had always been looking. To the left. This marks monetary reform, with 1,000 Bolivares being replaced by one new Bolivar Fuerte.
The new 25 centimos coin grew in size, from 17 mm to 20 mm. This coin was minted in 2007 and 2009.
