Cook Islands 1-CENT (KM423)
Rhesus Monkey
This circulating commemorative coin features a Rhesus monkey. Two Rhesus monkeys were brought to Cook Islands in 1990 for a zoo, but the zoo went out of business and the monkeys went into the care of John Abbot. I have no idea who that is, but you can read about it here.
This coin was issued in 2003 and is one of four coins issued that year featuring animals.
