This coloured circulating commemorative coin celebrates the 125th anniversary of the Klondike Gold Rush in Dawson City, Yukon. A major feature of Dawson City is the
"Moosehide Slide" which is a prehistoric landslide that took place at least 1,700 years ago. In the Hän language the slide is called Ëddhä̀ dä̀dhëchą, literally “weathered moosehide hanging.” The symbol of this is a whole moose (rather than its hanging hide), which can be seen on the left side of the coin.
Many thanks to Maria for gifting the Klondike coins!
