Winged Oxen

In 2012 the Central Bank of Armenia issued a series of 50 dram circulating coins celebrating the regions of Armenia. This coin commemorates Armavir Province.

The image of the obverse of this coin is the Sardarapat Memorial located in the village of Araks. The entrance to this memorial is flanked by two huge winged oxen, which we see on either side of the coin, with the leading edge of their wings just visible.
