The Spangled emperor (Lethrinus nebulosus) is a popular fish for eating, and hence its appearance on this FAO issue coin. This fish has dozens of vernacular names throughout the Indo-Pacific region and is commonly called Shaari kabir in the UAE. (In Mauritius it is called Mata-Hari, which sort of explains why the Krause catalogue refers to it as that.)
