Iran is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations, dating back to 3200 BCE and the area was first unified in 625 BCE.
Iran is one of the most mountainous countries in the world, with the western part having the most mountains. The northern part is covered in dense rain forests and the eastern part is mainly desert basins.
