The obverses of the Bulgarian LEV coins depict the Madara Rider on his horse, killing a lion with a spear. This image is taken from a large carving 100 m up on a cliff face. Inscriptions with the sculpture chronicle events throughout the 8th century.
This coin was minted one year only.
