The Giant Anteater is the largest of the four anteater species. The 'Tamandua' legend on the coin refers to the native Tupi name for anteaters. This one is Tamandua Bandiera. Just to confuse things, it seems the scientific community has adopted 'Tamandua' as the genus for two of the four species, but not for this one. You can learn more about anteaters here.
