This coin was issued in 1997 to commemorate the island of Menorca and its UNESCO declaration (in 1993) as a Biosphere Reserve. The island features at least 220 bird species and 1,000 species of plant (and 80,000 humans). Also, there are prehistoric monuments, as depicted on the coin's obverse.
But, this coin is in the Coin Zoo because the reverse features a nice rearing horse (with a rider).
