Slovenia 20-EURO CENT (KM72)

Lipizzan Horses

Slovenia switched to the euro in 2007, and switched their nice coin designs for this shallow engraving.

The Lipizzan Horse breed is traced through eight foundation lines (dynasties), six of which originated in Lipzza, Slovenia in 1580. These six dynasties are the foundation of the famous Lipizzaner Stallions that do all the jumping and prancing about in shows. (The other two dynasties were developed in Austria starting in 1562.)
