Russia 10-RUBLES (Y941)

Reindeer (or horse)

This coin is from 'The Russian Federation' series, a series of coins that started in 2005 with each celebrating a region of Russia.

This issue is the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and as in the other coins features the coat of arms. That could be a reindeer or a horse represented there, but I am unable to find any direct reference to it. The ethnic Yakuts were big reindeer herders, but they also were heavily into horses as well (for eating).
