The Gray wolf (aka Grey wolf aka Timber wolf aka Canus lupus) is the largest member of the family Canidae and the only species of Canis living in both the Old and New Worlds. They are the most studied and best known species and all dogs (Canus lupus familiaris) are divergent sub-species of Canus lupus.
