The Norwegian Fjord Horse -- Fjording or Fjordhest in Norway -- is a small but very muscular horse breed. Its ancestors are believed to have been domesticated in Norway around 4,000 years ago, and archaeological evidence indicates it has been selectively bred for at least 2,000 years. The Fjord horse is small and mild-tempered, but strong enough to plow fields and pull timber. It is excellent for riding and driving, and they are used for tourist transport in Norway.
