In 2014, World Coin News reported a new variety of this coin with no dots around the inside of the rims. However, when I obtained a 2014 example, it had mostly no dots, but some dots are still visible. Also, in the area where there are no dots (on the obverse) the legends are also starting to disappear. Therefore, I suspect they may not be a truly new variety, but instead a result of worn or over-polished dies.
