Isle of Man 1-CROWN (KM18)

Manx Cat

The Manx cat -- sometimes known as Manks, Stubbin, or "rumpy" -- is a domestic cat breed that originated on the Isle of Man. They carry a natural mutation that usually results in no tail, or at most a stub of a tail. They also have longish rear legs and a roundish head. The Manx has been known since the early 19th century.

This large crown coin was minted in 1970 only, and is considered a standard circulating coin. However, my guess is that they did not circulate too much. After 1970, the Isle of Man switched to the decimal pound.

Many thanks to James K. of Wales for donating this (very large) rumpy to the Coin Zoo!
