This circulating commemorative coin was issued in 2007 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hans Christian Andersen.
One of his famous stories is "The Nightingale" about an emperor who prefers the sound of a mechanical nightingale to the song of the real thing. The coin shows the real bird, because after the mechanical one breaks down and the emperor is on his deathbed, the real bird returns to him and its song restores his health.
