Salamander

This circulating commemorative coin celebrates Park Güell, in Barcelona. The park complex was designed by Antoni Gaudi and built between 1900 and 1914 and officially opened as a public park in 1926. In 1984 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Featured on the coin is Gaudi's colourful mosaic salamander sculpture -- known as "el drac" (the dragon) -- located at the park's main entrance.
