Starfish
The Starfish has appeared on the Bahamian 1-cent coin from the beginning of the Bahama's own coinage in 1966. (Before then, Bahamians used the coins of Great Britain.) For this type (KM59), the date was moved to the obverse and the Queen was replaced with the Bahamian Coat of Arms. This coin was issued from 1974 to 1985.
Starfish are members of the Phylum Echinodermata, which makes them quite distinct from other animal types in the Coin Zoo.
