Bahamas 1-CENT (KM16)

Starfish

The Starfish has appeared on the Bahamian 1-cent coin from the beginning of the Bahama's own coinage in 1966. (Before then, Bahamians used the coins of Great Britain.) This example (KM16) saw the same design on a smaller coin, and was issued from 1971 to 1973.

Starfish are members of the Phylum Echinodermata, which makes them quite distinct from other animal types in the Coin Zoo.
