Belize 1-CENT (KM46)

Non-circulating coin

Swallow-tailed Kite

The Swallow-tailed kite first appeared on the 1-cent coin in 1974 and was the only year a round coin was issued. This coin with a scalloped edge and made of bronze was issued in 1975 and 1976 only. In 1977 the composition was changed to aluminum (KM46b). The last year for the Swallow-tailed Kite 1-cent piece was 1984.

Like most of the Belize coins, this issue snuck into the Coin Zoo before I realized it was a non-circulating coin.
