Taita Falcons

The Taita falcon is a very rare bird that lives in dry areas of eastern and central Africa. It only eats small birds that it catches in flight.

This original version of the Taita Falcon coin was larger and very thick (3 mm). It was minted in 1989 only, and replaced with a smaller, thinner version in 1992 (KM38).
