Belize 1-CENT (KM38)

Non-circulating coin

Swallow-tailed Kite

The Swallow-tailed kite first appeared on the 1-cent coin in 1974 and was the only year a round coin was issued. In 1975 the shape changed to a scalloped edge (KM46), and in 1977 the composition of the scalloped coin was changed to aluminum. The last year for the Swallow-tailed Kite 1-cent piece was 1984.

Like most of the Belize coins, this issue snuck into the Coin Zoo before I realized it was a non-circulating coin.
