Sri Lanka 10-RUPEES Batticaloa

Fish

The subject of this coin is the "Singing Fish of Batticaloa" which may or may not be a real thing. The coin's depiction is of course fanciful, but if there is a strange sound coming from the water on full moon nights, nobody seems to know what it is. Some say it comes from shell fish, some say from water movement around boulders, etc. Regardless, it is a tourist attraction with enough gravitas to make it onto an official coin.
