Philippines 10-SENTIMO (KM240.1)

Pandaka pygmaea

The Pandaka pygmaea is a critically endangered dwarf pygmy goby that lives in rivers in the Philippines. With an average weight of 4 to 5 mg and length of 11 to 15 mm, it is one of the smallest fish in the world.

This original version of the coin has a spelling error: Pandaka pygmea. Interestingly, the incorrect dies were used again in 1986 and 1987, even though a corrected version existed in 1983 (KM 240.2).
