The newly formed Republic of Mali issued a set of three coins in 1961, all featuring animals. The 10-franc coin shows a horse, and Mali loves its horses. Riders from all over Mali converge on Burkina Faso, directly to the south, each year for a wild horse festival.
This coin was minted one year only.
All coin images in Daniel's Coin Zoo are from my personal collection. I collect, research, and personally photograph every coin displayed on this site. PLEASE do not take my images without permission. If you would like to use any coin image you see, just ask me. Thank you.
