Lion
In 2018 Kenya released a new circulating coin family featuring their local wildlife.
The 10 shilling coin features Panthera leo, the lion, an animal that has been depicted in human culture dating back at least 17,000 years. Once a widely spread species across Africa and from India through Europe, the lion is now a threatened species.
