Cameroon 100-FRANCS (KM15)

Giant Eland

A male Giant Eland can weigh up to 1,000 kg and their huge spiral horns can extend beyond 120 cm. They hang out in sparse forest during the heat of the day, and feed on the savannah during the morning and evening hours.

Between 1961 and 1973, the Central Bank of Equatorial African States and Cameroon issued coinage, including three different 100 franc pieces.

This particular well-worn coin was obtained by the Zoo Master at a coin show where it was mis-identified as KM16, which is far harder to find than KM15, which means I overpaid. Note to self for future: Check these similar looking pieces closer!
