South Sudan
In 2011, a referendum was held to determine if South Sudan would separate from Sudan. Almost 99% of the people voted for independence and The Republic of South Sudan was born.
Unfortunately, in 2013 a civil war broke out. The original conflict ended, but started up again in 2016 and violence continues as of September 2016.
