Sierra Leone
The Republic of Sierra Leone gained independence from Great Britain in 1961 and the Republic was declared in 1971. Unfortunately, the country was torn apart by civil war lasting almost 10 years (1991-2000).
Today, the country is slowly transitioning to a successful economy, based mainly on its rich mineral resources.
