Nigeria
The Federal Republic of Nigeria is sometimes called "The Giant of Africa" because it has the largest population on the continent (182+ million) and a big economy.
The history of Nigeria's civilization dates back to 500 BCE and its "colonial" period (taken over by Britain) stretches from 1800 to 1960. Independence was followed by a civil war (1967-1970), military juntas (1970-1999), and then democracy (1999- ).
