Peru 2-SOLES (KM401)

Hummingbirds

Peru switched from the Sol to the Inti in 1985, then in another round of monetary reform they switched to the Nuevo Sol in 1991. Starting in 2016, the currency became the sol.

The original 2 neuvos soles coin (KM#313, 1994-2009) featured the Nazca lines hummingbird geoglyph. The second type (KM#343, 2010-2015) depicts the geoglyph twice, but there is only one. This version without the "neuvos" was minted starting in 2016.
