Latvia 1-LATS (KM12)

Atlantic Salmon

Fishing is a very popular sport in Latvia. Unfortunately, in 2005 the Latvian Food and Veterinary Service banned the retail sale of salmon caught in the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Riga due to high dioxin levels. However, most of the salmon sold in Latvia comes from farms in Norway.

This coin was first issued in 1992, then not issued again until 2007.
