Nagorno-Karabakh 1-DRAM (KM30)

Common Pheasant

The Common Pheasant (aka Ring-necked Pheasant) is found in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. It also appeared on the 2004 coin in a more dramatic pose (and far superior engraving) than seen here.

I originally thought these were "fantasy" coins, created by Armenia as a political move to help gain recognition for the NKR (which later became the Republic of Artsakh). However, it seems that the Artsakh dram is offiical legal tender within the republic, although, the people mainly use the Armenian dram.
