Zambia 1-KWACHA (KM209)

Chaplin's Barbet

Chaplin's Barbet (aka Zambian Barbet aka Lybius chaplini) is endemic to Zambia and lives mostly in moist savanna and arable land. It has a white head and breast, with black wings and tail, and bright red feathers around its eyes.

On January 1, 2013, Zambia introduced a new series of coins consisting of 5, 10, and 50 ngwee pieces, plus a one kwacha coin. The older coins are still legal tender, but because their metal value is higher than their face value they have all but disappeared from circulation.
