Dama gazelle

The Dama gazelle (Nanger dama, formerly Gazella dama) lives in the Sahara Desert and is critically endangered. Baby damas are able to follow the herd within two days of birth, and at one week old they can run as fast as an adult.

Algeria first issued this bi-metallic coin in 1992.
